Second SH L!ve Digital Week Online Session Announced covering new M25 health initiative

Online briefing session around M25  healthier highways programme to be held as part of SHL!VE digital week.

Safer Highways are pleased to announce that as part of its SHL!ve digital week it is to host an online webinar briefing session around the science of Wellbeing and Health, Healthier Highways - Changing the Culture of Health Protection.

Covid-19 isn’t the only pandemic to affect the highways sector. For decades construction workers in the UK have experienced hazardous exposures resulting in thousands of deaths and new cases of ill-health each year. At the root of the issue is a lack of effective control, underpinned by poor awareness and understanding of health hazards at work. The M25, managed by Connect Plus, is one of the busiest motorways in Europe. In partnership with Steve Perkins Associates, Connect Plus has embarked on a ground breaking initiative called ‘Healthier Highways’ to raise awareness of health risks and improve control of exposures through occupational hygiene. Elaine Gazzini, Technical and Programme Director at Connect Plus and Steve Perkins, Managing Director at Steve Perkins Associates, will unpack the strategy and approach behind ‘Healthier Highways’ and introduce some of the early findings.
