Highways Heroes Awards Nominations now open

Nominations have now opened for the Highway Heroes Awards, the Safer Highways organised awards set up to recognise the people we put to work on our networks.

Entries can be made via our new dedicated website: https://www.highwaysheroes.com.

The Highways Heroes Awards come after a time of unprecedented change not only in our industry, but as part of our everyday lives.

Safer Highways believes this is the ideal time to celebrate the hard work and success of our workers, who have coped admirably in the face of adversity, to recognise the heroic actions of them which, until now, has gone unnoticed.

The message from Safer Highways about the nominations is: “We don’t need you to write an essay or even get the grammar right, we just need you to step back from the day job and think about all those things we do that go above and beyond the ‘day job’. Ideally, we want people to nominate their colleagues, peers, team members or managers or maybe the person is an industry colleague from another company.

“We have received a huge amount of support from companies across the sector already so now we just need your nominations!. There are no specific categories or minimum criteria as we know the selfless acts of those in our industry know no boundaries. However, to give you some guidance, you can nominate someone for a random act of kindness, for courage, bravery or even saving a life. Maybe it’s someone who took it upon themselves to help a charity and got their company and colleagues on board to ‘just do more’ or perhaps it’s someone in the office who always goes over and above to help the team…the list is endless.

Nominations will close on 31st August 2021 so there isn't much time to get your thinking caps on for the nominations so we urge you to act sooner rather than later if you feel you know somebody who should be recognised.

Taking place in QEII Convention Centre on 2nd December 2021 the awards will recognise those who have gone above and beyond their duty, to help someone or improve a situation, either in the communities they work in or to unconditionally support fellow workers in their team.

For entries and all information, please go to: www.highwaysheroes.com, where there will be additional insight from the judges and some of the sponsors.
