Aurrigo, a developer of autonomous vehicles and mobile robotics platforms, has opened a new engineering and manufacturing hub in Coventry, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion plans.
The facility, located at Power Park, will become the company’s primary UK base for advanced engineering, vehicle development and large-scale production. At more than 130,000 square feet, the site is over three times larger than Aurrigo’s previous premises and is expected to support a substantial increase in manufacturing capacity.
The move follows a £14.1M fundraising round completed last year, aimed at supporting international growth. Production of autonomous vehicles is due to begin at the new site shortly, with the company indicating it could produce more than 500 units annually at full capacity, depending on demand.
The investment aligns with Aurrigo’s broader strategy to expand globally through partnerships and licensing arrangements. The company is currently pursuing opportunities across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the United States, seeking local collaborations to support manufacturing, funding and market access.
The new facility will also support delivery of an existing £6.28M contract with Ultra Global for 25 autonomous guided vehicles, highlighting the need to scale production capabilities in line with growing commercial demand.
According to chief executive Professor David Keene, the centre strengthens Aurrigo’s ability to develop and manufacture its technologies while supporting long-term growth. He noted that the site provides both the capacity and infrastructure needed to scale operations efficiently.
The building has been equipped with ready-to-use infrastructure, including IT systems, office space, EV charging points and dedicated manufacturing areas, allowing for a rapid transition into full operation. It also includes space for an on-site test track, enabling vehicle validation, development work and customer demonstrations to take place in one location.
Chairman Andrew Cornish said the investment reflects a measured approach following the company’s recent fundraising and provides the operational flexibility needed to expand existing programmes and pursue new opportunities.
Situated within Coventry’s growing cluster for electrification and clean mobility, the new hub is expected to play a central role in Aurrigo’s international strategy. The company intends to use the site as a base for sharing its technical expertise and intellectual property with global partners, supporting regional deployment of its products.
Aurrigo’s autonomous systems—including Auto-DollyTug, Auto-Cargo and Auto-Shuttle—are already in use at 12 airports worldwide, including sites in the UK and Europe.
The company has indicated it will continue to seek strategic partnerships to support further growth, increase production capacity and maximise the potential of the new facility. It also expects the expansion to create opportunities for skilled jobs in engineering and software development within the region.

Interesting to read about your media mentions. Good press coverage can really help build trust. Someone recently pointed me to this site for finding online entertainment options: https://climatica.org.uk/ Not sure if it's useful for you, but thought I'd mention it.
