TyreSafe has announced a new collaboration with the Farm Safety Foundation, also known as Yellow Wellies, as part of a shared commitment to reduce incidents and promote safety in the agricultural sector.

The partnership will see tyre safety messages feature in year’s Farm Safety Week (21–25 July).

As part of this new partnership, TyreSafe will provide tailored advice for farmers and land-based workers, helping them ACT—check Air pressure, Condition and Tread - to reduce the risk of tyre-related incidents both in the field and on the road.

“Rural roads and agricultural environments present very specific tyre safety challenges,” said Stuart Lovatt, Chair of TyreSafe.“Sloped ground, uneven terrain, heavy loads and variable weather conditions all demand that tyres are in good condition to ensure grip, stability and safe braking. By teaming up with the Farm Safety Foundation, we’re reaching a vital community of road users who rely on tyres more than most—and who face serious consequences if they fail. This isn’t just about safety—an unexpected tyre failure during a tight weather window could mean missing the chance to bring in a harvest, delaying the movement of livestock or missing vital deliveries. With margins as tight as they are, any unplanned downtime can hit farmers hard financially.”

The Farm Safety Foundation was established in 2014 by rural insurer NFU Mutual in response to the persistently high number of life-changing and fatal accidents in farming. As well as delivering two annual campaigns - Farm Safety Week and Mind Your Head - the charity conducts research into the attitudes and behaviours of the next generation of farmers to farm safety and mental wellbeing. Another key element of the charity’s activities is their education programme which has delivered training to nearly 30,000 young farmers in 44 land-based colleges and universities across the UK, and through the Young Farmers’ Club network.

Stephanie Berkeley, ARAgS, Manager of the Farm Safety Foundation, said,  “It is very clear that our two charities have a great deal in common. We’re excited to feature ATV and tractor tyre safety in this year’s Farm Safety Week and in the next edition of The Little Book of Farm Safety. Good tyres are essential, not only for safety on the road, but for stability and control when working across difficult terrain. The ACT message—Air Pressure, Condition, and Tread—fits perfectly with our practical and relatable approach to engaging farmers and rural workers.”

TyreSafe and the Farm Safety Foundation are also exploring longer-term ways to support the agricultural sector. TyreSafe’s rural and agricultural resources are being developed to ensure farmers and contractors can easily access practical guidance on tyre care for the safe operation of tractors, combine harvesters, telehandlers, sprayers, skid steer loaders, trailers, 4x4s, vans and quad bikes.
