Getting around London by bus just got a whole lot easier thanks to a major upgrade to Transport for London’s (TfL)free TfL Go app.

Previously, the app’s live bus information was limited to showing nearby stops based on your current location. But with the latest update, users can now scroll around any part of the city, tap on a bus stop, and instantly see real-time arrival times — perfect for planning onward connections while travelling on the Tube or rail.

Not only does the new version give you a bird’s-eye view of every bus stop in London, but it also flags closed or disrupted stops, so there are fewer surprises when you get to the street.

If you’re on iOS, there’s an added bonus — you can now view entire bus routes right on the map. Android users will have to sit tight a little longer as that feature is still in development.

More upgrades are already in the pipeline.

In the coming months, TfL plans to let users search for and save their favourite bus stops, making regular commutes even smoother.

“Buses keep London moving, and the latest updates to TfL Go now make keeping up to date with them even easier,” said Callum McLeod, Senior Product Manager for TfL Go.“These new features give customers even more clarity and control when planning journeys across the capital.”

The TfL Go app, launched in 2020, has already racked up over 10 million downloads and boasts around 1.4 million active users per month. Earlier this year, it gained another handy function — users can now log in to their contactless or Oyster account and view their journey history without needing to visit the TfL website.

You can grab TfL Go for free via the Apple App Store or Google Play.
