Australian engineering consultancy Premise has officially begun trading as Amey Australia, marking the latest milestone in its integration into the global infrastructure consultancy following its acquisition by UK-based Amey.
The rebrand, announced this week across the company's digital platforms, completes the transition that began when Amey acquired Brisbane-headquartered Premise as part of its international expansion strategy.
The move establishes Amey's permanent return to the Australian market while creating a larger consultancy with expertise spanning transport, water, environmental services, renewables and the built environment.
In a statement announcing the change, the business said it would continue building on the foundations established by Premise while benefiting from the scale, technical capability and global reach of its new parent company.
"We are now part of Amey and will be moving forward as Amey Australia," the company said.
"By joining Amey, a global infrastructure consultancy and operations partner, we are strengthening what we've always done best – supporting our clients and communities. Now, we'll continue to expand our capability through technical depth and data-enabled insight."
The company added that the evolution would allow it to deliver "even greater value and long-term outcomes" while continuing to serve clients across Australia.
The transition follows Amey's acquisition of Premise, a multidisciplinary consultancy with offices across Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia and a strong reputation for delivering engineering and advisory services throughout regional Australia.
For Amey, the acquisition represented more than the purchase of an established consultancy. It marked the company's return to Australia after a five-year absence, reinforcing ambitions to become a global infrastructure business while placing consultancy services at the centre of its future growth strategy.
Amey Chief Executive Andy Milner described the acquisition as an important step for the business when it was first announced.
"We are delighted to welcome Premise to Amey at such a transformational time for our business," he said.
"It's an exciting opportunity to join forces with a company so deeply embedded in Australia's regional communities."
Milner said Premise had built a strong reputation for technical excellence, trusted client relationships and place-based solutions.
"Our two companies share a common culture of behaving responsibly, ethically and sustainably in everything we do, with a clear focus on the wellbeing of our people and the communities we serve. Together, with their local knowledge and Amey's scale, we are well positioned to accelerate growth, support jobs and deliver cutting-edge infrastructure solutions that make a lasting impact."
The acquisition also significantly strengthens Amey's consulting business internationally.
Colin Wood, Managing Director of Amey Consulting, said the addition of Premise broadens the company's technical capability while opening new opportunities across Australia and neighbouring markets.
"With its breadth of skill in the built environment, water, environmental & renewables and transport sectors, Premise will significantly strengthen and expand Amey's consulting capabilities and open up new opportunities in Australia.
"This is a substantial step in Amey's journey to put consulting at the heart of its growth strategy."
Premise Chairman Patrick Brady also highlighted the strategic opportunities the merger creates for clients and staff.
"Joining Amey marks an exciting new chapter for Premise and our clients," he said.
"As part of a leading, well-supported and well-connected infrastructure organisation with the scale and vision to drive innovation, this partnership will supercharge our strategic growth plans. It better positions us to accelerate regional investment, unlock new opportunities, expand our expertise and deliver outstanding value for clients across Australia and beyond."
The newly branded Amey Australia will continue operating across sectors including transport infrastructure, water, environmental and renewable energy, while drawing upon Amey's broader expertise in lifecycle engineering, asset management, digital technologies and decarbonisation. The combined business is expected to strengthen collaboration between teams in Australia, the UK and New Zealand, enabling clients to benefit from expanded technical capability and international best practice.
For Amey, the move represents another significant milestone in its transformation into a global consultancy focused on infrastructure, engineering and sustainable asset management. For clients across Australia, it signals continuity in local relationships combined with access to greater international expertise, investment and innovation.
While the Premise name has now become part of Amey Australia, the company's leadership says its longstanding commitment to regional communities, technical excellence and client service will remain unchanged as it enters its next phase of growth.
