Founded in memory of Thomas Samuel Theyer, who passed away aged 18 in 2013, The Thomas Theyer Foundationbecame a registered charity in 2015 with a mission to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those facing challenging life circumstances — as well as their families and carers.

Rooted in Thomas’s own love for exercise and the outdoors — he lived with dyspraxia and ADHD and found solace in physical activity — the Foundation champions the mental and physical health benefits of outdoor experiences, while also providing counselling and therapeutic support.

Why the Partnership Matters

This collaboration between P&D Specialist Services and The Thomas Theyer Foundation (TTF) is more than a corporate sponsorship — it’s a purposeful partnership built on shared values and a deep connection to the local community.

  • Shared geography and community: Both organisations are proudly rooted in the Derbyshire and High Peak area, with TTF focusing its support on children and young people in the region. Local partnerships foster genuine, lasting impact because both sides understand their community’s needs and are invested in its wellbeing.

  • Aligned values: The Foundation’s commitment to wellbeing, inclusion, and outdoor activity aligns seamlessly with P&D’s ethos of teamwork, care, and social responsibility. For P&D, supporting TTF reflects a genuine commitment to corporate social responsibility — strengthening company morale while making a tangible difference.

  • Amplified local impact: Since 2019, TTF has supported more than 350 children through outdoor activity programmes. With P&D’s backing, the Foundation can continue and expand its work — reaching even more families who benefit from its life-changing support.

  • Employee engagement and community culture: This partnership creates opportunities for P&D’s team to get involved through fundraising, volunteering, and outreach, helping to strengthen company culture while building goodwill in the local community.

Championing Mental Health in the Highways Industry

Mental health is one of the most pressing issues within the highways and construction sectors today. Long hours, time away from home, and high-pressure working conditions can take a toll — leading to higher-than-average rates of stress, anxiety, and isolation. Too often, these challenges remain hidden behind a culture of toughness.

By partnering with The Thomas Theyer Foundation, P&D is helping to challenge that stigma.

The Foundation’s focus on outdoor activity, counselling, and emotional wellbeing mirrors the kind of support that roadworkers and construction professionals need: opportunities to move, reflect, and connect.

A Partnership Built on Purpose

The partnership between P&D Specialist Services and The Thomas Theyer Foundation is a testament to what happens when business and charity come together with shared intent. It’s not just about raising funds — it’s about raising awareness, supporting wellbeing, and building resilience in both the local community and the highways industry.

For P&D, supporting TTF isn’t just corporate responsibility — it’s personal. It’s about recognising the human side of demanding work: the long nights, the dedication, and the silent battles that often go unseen.

For The Thomas Theyer Foundation, it means extending their reach and amplifying their mission — reminding people that no one should have to face their struggles alone.

Together, they are proving that compassion and resilience go hand in hand — and that by taking care of people, we build stronger, healthier communities for everyone.
