Tameside Council and Sefton Council have each introduced new contractor frameworks aimed at supporting a range of infrastructure works, including structural repairs, drainage improvements, and road maintenance.

Both initiatives are designed with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in mind, offering opportunities for local businesses to secure public sector contracts.

Sefton Council’s framework is valued at approximately £54 million (excluding VAT) and is set to run from 1 October 2026 through to 30 September 2031, with the option to extend the agreement until 2034. Submissions will be assessed using a weighted scoring system, where cost accounts for 50%, quality for 35%, and social value for 15%. The deadline for bids is 21 May, and successful contractors are expected to be announced on 20 July.

Meanwhile, Tameside Council’s framework is estimated at £45 million (excluding VAT) and will operate from 30 September 2026 to 29 September 2030. There is an option to extend the contract period to March 2032. The council intends to appoint at least six suppliers across each of the eight available lots. Interested parties must submit their tenders by 27 April, with contract awards due to be confirmed on 18 August.

Further information and full procurement details for both frameworks are available via the government’s Find a Tender service.
