Residents in North Lincolnshire will soon benefit from a new flexible bus service designed to improve access to transport across the area.
The service, called Connect2, is set to begin operations on Monday 27 April. It will offer an on-demand travel option, allowing passengers to choose pick-up points from a network of designated local locations.
Using intelligent routing technology, the system will group passengers travelling in similar directions and create the most efficient routes possible, helping to reduce journey times while maximising vehicle use.
The new service replaces the previous JustGo scheme and aims to provide a more accessible and reliable experience. Improvements include the introduction of new vehicles and a locally managed call centre operated by North Lincolnshire Council.
Council leader Cllr Rob Waltham said the updated service builds on the success of the previous model while making it easier and more flexible for residents to use. He highlighted the benefit of bringing the call centre in-house, ensuring users can speak directly to local staff for support when booking journeys.
The service will run from 07:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays. Passengers will be able to book trips through a dedicated mobile app, which will go live on 24 April, or alternatively via the council’s call centre, available from 08:00 to 17:00 once the service is fully operational.
To help residents familiarise themselves with the new system, the council will host a series of drop-in sessions across the region. These events are aimed particularly at those who may be less confident using digital booking tools, offering guidance on how to access and use the service.
Fares for Connect2 will start from £2.50 for a single journey, with a maximum cap of £3 per trip. Discounted fares will also be available for passengers under 19.
The council says the introduction of Connect2 reflects its commitment to providing affordable, responsive transport options, helping residents stay connected to work, services, and community life.
