A new £23 million bridge has officially opened in Denton, Greater Manchester, concluding a three-year redevelopment project.

The St Anne’s Road motorway bridge, spanning the M67, was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring four pupils from nearby St Anne’s Primary School and a blessing from the Reverend Philip Brierley of St Anne’s Church.

The bridge provides uninterrupted access for all road users and pedestrians, including improved eastbound connections to the motorway.

National Highways Project Manager Mangat Bansal commented:"Delivering this bridge has been a privilege and a unique engineering challenge, particularly as it carries essential utility services including water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications across Greater Manchester. We thank the local community for their patience during construction."

Carlos Garcia Ferrer, Project Director at Tilbury Douglas, added:"This project has been a fantastic collaboration. Everyone involved—from contractors to supply chain partners—demonstrated exceptional technical skill. Their dedication is reflected in the ‘Excellent’ ratings received in successive Considerate Constructors Scheme assessments and the positive community legacy, including school engagement, learning initiatives through Open Doors, and support for charities and local organisations."

The bridge is expected to enhance connectivity, support local traffic flow, and provide long-term benefits for both residents and commuters across the region.
