Concerns about the safety of slip roads on the A34 at East Ilsley and Beedon have been acknowledged by the Government following a meeting between a local MP and the roads minister.

Olivia Bailey, MP for Reading West and Mid Berkshire, met with Roads Minister Simon Lightwood to discuss issues raised by residents about the junctions. The meeting followed significant local feedback, with hundreds of constituents responding to a survey highlighting safety risks.

Residents have called for urgent improvements to the slip roads, citing ongoing concerns about their condition and layout.

Ms Bailey welcomed the discussion, saying she appreciated the minister taking the time to address the issue. She added that she would continue to push for changes and looked forward to further engagement once the results of an ongoing study are available.

Mr Lightwood said road safety remains a key priority for the Government and acknowledged the concerns raised. He confirmed his intention to continue working with the MP after the study concludes to consider next steps.
