The Gallows Corner flyover project is approaching completion, with newly painted road markings signalling that the long-running scheme is in its final stages.
Recent aerial images show lane markings now in place across the new bridge deck and the roundabout below. While the roundabout surface has been fully renewed, the adjoining roads are still awaiting resurfacing, meaning the markings do not yet align seamlessly.
This milestone follows the completion of waterproofing works and the laying of asphalt across most of the structure, with only the entry ramp sections still to be finished.
Construction has now been underway for close to 300 days, with Transport for London (TfL) previously indicating that the junction is due to reopen بالكامل by the end of April. Although a confirmed reopening date has not yet been announced, work is continuing at pace to meet that target.
According to TfL’s latest update, construction activity is now taking place around the clock. Remaining tasks include fitting expansion joints on the flyover and installing new pedestrian crossings on surrounding roads.
Additional work is also being carried out by Essex & Suffolk Water, including overnight and weekend operations. Time has been built into the schedule to allow for testing and any necessary adjustments to newly installed infrastructure.
TfL’s Chief Capital Officer, Stuart Harvey, acknowledged the disruption caused by the project and thanked local residents for their patience. He said efforts are focused on completing the outstanding work as quickly as possible, with the aim of delivering a structure that will serve the area for many years to come.
The project is expected to be fully completed by the end of April.
