Flannery Plant Hire has secured PAS 2080:2023 certification, becoming the first operated plant hire company in the UK to achieve the standard for whole-life carbon management.
PAS 2080 is recognised internationally as the leading framework for managing and reducing carbon across the built environment value chain. It sets out requirements for organisations to measure, manage and drive down emissions throughout the lifecycle of infrastructure and construction projects.
The certification reflects the company’s structured approach to carbon reduction, covering fleet investment, operational performance and the processes embedded across the business to support lower-carbon project delivery. Initiatives include the introduction of more efficient equipment, the use of alternative fuels, digital performance monitoring and collaborative working practices aimed at helping clients reduce whole-life carbon impacts.
Patrick Flannery, Managing Director at Flannery, said the accreditation provides independent verification of the company’s sustainability commitments.
“PAS 2080 certification is a major milestone for us. It independently verifies the work we’re doing to measure, manage and reduce carbon across our operations – and it gives our clients confidence that we’re supporting them with the highest standards of sustainability in the industry.
“This is a fantastic achievement for our team and a really positive step forward for our sector. A number of the clients and contractors we support hold this certification and expect the same standards from their supply chain partners. If it's important for our customers, it's important to us.”
The business said it will continue to embed carbon management into decision-making, operational planning and future investment strategies, with the aim of delivering measurable environmental value for clients and the wider industry.
