Transport for London (TfL) has announced that a further five Tube stations will be evaluated for step-free access as part of ongoing efforts to improve accessibility across the network.

Barkingside, Brent Cross, Preston Road, Queensbury and Totteridge & Whetstone are the latest stations to be considered, with feasibility studies set to examine how lifts and other accessibility improvements could be delivered at each location.

These stations are in addition to around 40 others already undergoing similar assessments, reflecting a broader push to make the Underground more inclusive.

At present, 94 Tube stations offer step-free access. Colindale was the most recent to be upgraded, while Northolt is expected to be the next station to benefit from accessibility improvements.

Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance said expanding step-free access remains a key priority, highlighting the importance of ensuring the network can be used by as many people as possible.

The feasibility studies will explore the practical challenges and opportunities at each station, helping TfL determine how best to progress future upgrades as part of its wider accessibility programme.
