Econ delivers bold red gritter fleet to Marlborough Highways

Econ Engineering has supplied a fleet of distinctive red gritters to Marlborough Highways as the contractor enters its first full winter season under a refreshed brand identity.

Econ, which manufactures around 85% of the UK’s gritters and is best known for its iconic yellow vehicles, worked with Marlborough to break from convention. The new gritters feature a striking red livery that aligns with Marlborough’s “We are bold” value and reinforces its continued investment in modern, high-quality plant and fleet.

The vehicles will support winter service delivery across Havering and Southend, with additional units scheduled for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead ahead of next season. All gritters are fitted with Exaktrak technology to enhance route management, operational monitoring and overall efficiency.

As the UK’s leading winter maintenance equipment manufacturer, Econ is also providing comprehensive aftercare and technical support to ensure the fleet performs reliably throughout the winter period and beyond.

The four new vehicles – named Snowflake, Snowblast, Snowsafe and Snowflare – were chosen following a local competition. Two of the gritters are set to appear at a community naming ceremony hosted by Scotts Primary School in Havering.
