Ten ducklings have been safely rescued from the M4 in Berkshire after being spotted wandering along the carriageway without their mother.

National Highways traffic officers discovered the birds between junctions 10 (Winnersh Interchange) and 11 (Three Mile Cross Interchange) on 30 March and intervened to remove them from the busy motorway.

The ducklings were collected and transported to Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue in Blewbury, near Didcot, where they have since been placed in the charity’s bird nursery.

Volunteers at the centre are now caring for the ducklings, ensuring they are safe and supported until they are ready to be released back into the wild.
