Council to invest £3m into school road safety

Surrey County Council (SCC) says it will be investing £3m to improve road safety outside schools.

With school drop off and pick up times increasing congestion, school road safety is a frequently expressed concern, the council said.

The council said it had recently made improvements to school crossing patrols and added new crossings.

SCC has additionally made improvements to signage and road markings.

SCC previously introduced an updated road safety outside schools policy in November 2022.

The policy aims to reduce the risk of collisions, make the road feel safer and encourage more people to consider walking or cycling to and from school.
