AtkinsRéalis has been named one of The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality 2025, marking the third consecutive year the company has been recognised in the prestigious UK list for its consistent commitment to supporting and progressing women in the workplace.

AtkinsRéalis has implemented a range of initiatives to support equal opportunities and ensure women and people from under-represented backgrounds are able to reach their full career potential, including training programmes, mentorship opportunities, engaged employee networks and flexible working arrangements. In the last 12 months, AtkinsRéalis has also rolled out an award-winning menopause support programme  that includes manager training toolkits, becoming the first engineering consultancy to receive Menopause Friendly Accreditation.

Recent EngineeringUK research1 stated that 16.9% of the engineering and technology workforce are women, and whilst AtkinsRéalis’ representation is higher than this industry average, tackling this under-representation in STEM is vital to create a thriving industry and the company collaborates with partners such as WISE to collectively drive change across the industry. This extends to promoting STEM as a career choice, and this year AtkinsRéalis expects to engage over 65,000 pupils from all backgrounds in 2025 and, through its partnership with Governors for Schools, create and maintain meaningful industry relationships with over 140 schools to help spread enthusiasm for STEM under the ethos that children ‘can’t be what they can’t see’2.

Chris Ball, UK & Ireland President, AtkinsRéalis, said: “As a company in an industry where women have historically been under-represented, we work hard to embed a culture where everyone belongs and everyone feels empowered to speak up, take action and remove barriers that prevent equal opportunities.

“Being recognised as a Times Top 50 Company for Gender Equality for the third consecutive row is testament to the everyday actions of our 13,000 UK employees to reinforce this culture as well as the partnerships, initiatives and policies we have in place.  It’s incredibly important that we create environments where everyone can thrive and why we place such emphasis on encouraging the next generation into STEM careers to truly rebalance the representation in the industry.”

All organisations listed in the Times Top 50 have demonstrated that gender equality is a key part of their business strategy following a robust application process by Business in the Community.
