AtkinsRéalis announces two senior board appointments

AtkinsRéalis Transportation UK has announced two senior appointments to its board as part of efforts to strengthen leadership across its highways and transport advisory businesses.

Ian Spellacey has been appointed Market Director for Strategic & Regional Highways. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the contracting sector, having previously served as Director of Highways Services at Balfour Beattyand Managing Director at ConnectPlus Services, the consortium responsible for operating and maintaining the M25 motorway.

Since joining AtkinsRéalis in 2018, Spellacey has held a number of senior roles within the organisation, most recently as Strategic Growth Director. In that position he worked to identify new opportunities across sectors including mass transit, ports and logistics, helping shape the company’s long-term business pipeline.

Alongside this appointment, Sarah Price has been named Practice Director for Transport Advisory & Consultancy.

Price joined AtkinsRéalis in 2007 and has built a career spanning both technical and leadership roles across the organisation. Most recently she served as Transformation Programme Director. Earlier in her career she led major infrastructure programmes within the company’s environment business before later driving transformation initiatives within its defence division.

AtkinsRéalis Transport Director Colette Carroll thanked outgoing highways market director Peter Baynham, who held the role for nine years.

“I want to take a moment to thank Peter Baynham, who has been a cornerstone of our Transportation business as Strategic & Regional Highways Market Director for the past nine years,” she said.

She added that the new appointments come at a time of significant change for the transport sector.

“This is a period of real change for the transport sector, with asset renewal, resilience, digital transformation and place-based growth reshaping the landscape. I’m really excited to see how Sarah and Ian help our clients navigate the future.”
