A main road in Nottinghamshire was temporarily closed after a truck struck a bridge, causing disruption and heavy congestion in the surrounding area.
Emergency services shut the A606 Melton Road from around 4pm on Tuesday, 3 March while the incident was dealt with. The road reopened at approximately 5.30pm.
The closure led to delays for motorists, particularly on the nearby A52 towards Gamston Lings Bar.
Bus services were also affected. Trentbarton confirmed that its “The Keyworth” service was forced to divert in both directions via Gamston Lings Bar and past the former Nottingham Airport, meaning stops in Tollerton were missed.
A spokesperson for Trentbarton said: “Due to the bridge at Tollerton being hit by a truck, the road is closed.
“The Keyworth is diverting via Gamston Lings Bar and past the old Nottingham Airport in both directions, missing out both stops in Tollerton.”
Traffic built up in the area during the closure as emergency services managed the scene and assessed the situation.
