A12: National Highways won’t be fined for overrunning

During the summer months, the council’s highways team carried out resurfacing work across miles of roads throughout North Lincolnshire.

More than £4m was invested as part of the major scheme of resurfacing work to improve safety and the driving experience in Scunthorpe, Crowle, Kirton-in-Lindsey, Brigg, Epworth, Flixborough, Barton-upon-Humber, Westwoodside, Wroot, Elsham, Bottesford, Broughton, Scawby, New Holland, Gunness, Saxby, Hibaldstow, Burton-upon-Stather, Ashby, Sandtoft and Yaddlethorpe.

From the A15 South in Scawby and B1205 in Kirton-in-Lindsey to Scotter Road in Scunthorpe and Normanby Road/B1430 in Burton – miles and miles of roads have been upgraded using different techniques.

Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity, said:

“Looking after the 871 miles of roads in North Lincolnshire is a never-ending task, but it is one that the team work tirelessly to do.

“It was a very busy summer for the resurfacing crews, and they have carried out many improvements on major roads to the smallest of roads. They are now focussing on the next resurfacing scheme for autumn and winter, which is always a big task due to the colder temperatures and the work being weather dependent. More pothole teams will be on hand to patch roads where needed due to ice and water.

“The impact of new road surfacing is huge for drivers and for passengers, and for the people who live nearby – we’ve committed to making our communities the best they can be and helping them flourish, and this work is a huge part of that.”
