Solar Gates UK is extending an open invitation to all Safer Highways member companies with a desire to widen their employment pool, improve retention and work with government to offer life changing opportunities to ex-offenders.
The Second National Prison Employment Conference will begin with a keynote speech from Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab with workshops and practical ‘how to’ experiences from offenders, and companies whose whole recruitment policies have been moulded around the extremely successful approach to recruitment.
At the first EAB conference held at the Timpson Foundation in April, The Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Victoria Atkins MP explained “Getting prison leavers into steady jobs is a win-win. It cuts crime and makes the public safer – and also provides the reliable staff businesses need to drive the British economy”.
“We are calling on more firms to get involved in protecting the public through unlocking better lives for ex-offenders seeking a second chance. I am determined to see barriers removed so businesses can hire more prison leavers who want to turn around their lives,” Atkins concluded.
The event will be held at Solar Gates’ Maidstone HQ on 15th September with support from The Timpson Foundation and New Futures Network. At the first National EAB conference in April, Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice, Victoria Atkins MP urged employers to help “break the cycle” of reoffending and laid out government plans to make this a simpler, realistic proposition.
