Carnell has marked a significant milestone in its commitment to health and safety, achieving its 17th consecutive RoSPA Gold Award and securing the highly respected Order of Distinction.

The recognition places the organisation among an elite group of companies that have consistently demonstrated excellence in workplace safety over many years. It also reflects a deeply embedded culture where safety is not just a policy—but a daily practice lived by teams across the business.

A culture built on action

For Carnell, the award is not simply about meeting standards, but about how those standards are brought to life on site. From stopping work when something doesn’t feel right to continually challenging processes to improve safety, the company’s approach is rooted in accountability and vigilance at every level.

SHEQ Director Danny Pitcher highlighted the collective effort behind the achievement, emphasising that it reflects how teams operate day in, day out. He noted that true safety comes from translating procedures into real-world behaviours—where individuals feel empowered to act, question and improve.

What the award represents

The RoSPA Awards, run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, are among the most respected in the UK and internationally. They recognise organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to protecting people from harm and maintaining high standards in health and safety.

Achieving the Order of Distinction requires sustained excellence over an extended period—making Carnell’s 17-year streak a notable accomplishment in an industry where risks are ever-present.

More than a milestone

While the award marks an impressive run of recognition, the company is clear that its focus remains firmly on the future. The achievement is seen not as an endpoint, but as a reminder of the importance of maintaining high standards and continuing to evolve.

Seventeen consecutive years of success doesn’t happen by chance—it’s the result of consistent effort, shared responsibility and a workforce committed to making safety real, every single day.
