Riders return to e-scooters and e-bikes over Spring Easter weekend leads to busiest week of 2022

Updated: Apr 22, 2022

Dott, a leading European micro-mobility company, reports a rapid rise in use as riders take to the streets on its fleet of e-bikes and e-scooters.

Over the first quarter of 2022, rides per week increased by 47% from January to March1 as the warmer and drier weather encouraged people to travel in the open air.

The increase in rides was driven by an 85% increase in new riders1 over the same period, who took advantage of Dott’s efficient travel across city centres to unlock more of their city through effortless and enjoyable travel. The average trip distance increased by nearly 10% during the three months to over 2.1km at the end of March.

The recent Easter holidays spurred further growth, with Dott experiencing its busiest week of the year, and over 20% more rides than the previous week. As people across Europe enjoyed warm weather and bank holidays, Dott signed up more new riders than in any other week this year, over 50% more than in the previous week.

With over 40,000 e-scooters and 10,000 e-bikes across Europe, Dott offers reliable transport, adapted to the needs of the city and integrated with public transport. In the first quarter of 2022, Dott saw a 285% increase in rides against the same period in 2021.

Henri Moissinac, Co-Founder and CEO, Dott, said: “Travel habits are evolving, as people across European cities become less reliant on cars and increasingly realise the value of shared e-scooters and e-bikes as a reliable and efficient form of travel. With significant numbers trying our service for the first time, we hope more people will be convinced to switch to our vehicles which can free them from the delays and stress of congestion whilst making cities cleaner.”

Peak hours for travel are between 07:00 and 09:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00 as people increasingly look for a more enjoyable form of commute. The average price per trip across Dott’s cities is now around €2.00, with riders increasingly taking advantage of passes to pay less for regular travel (45% of rides now taking place using a pass).

With recent new launches including Ghent, Stockholm, Madrid and Marseille, there are now more opportunities for people to choose Dott.
