A series of public information events will take place during the week commencing 2 February, giving residents the opportunity to meet the construction team behind the North Hykeham Relief Road and learn more about how the new road will be built.
The events will run from 3pm to 8pm on three consecutive days at venues across the area. Members of the public can attend on Tuesday 3 February at Waddington Community Hub on High Street, Wednesday 4 February at Bracebridge Heath Pavilion on Bath Road, or Thursday 5 February at the Bentley Hotel on Newark Road.
The sessions are designed to provide detailed insight into construction plans ahead of works starting later this year. Attendees will be able to speak directly with the project team, find out how construction will be managed, and learn more about potential road closures and traffic management arrangements during the build.
Councillor Michael Cheyne, Executive Member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said the events are an important opportunity for engagement with the local community.
“This is an opportunity for people to come and meet the construction team that will be building the North Hykeham Relief Road,” he said. “Not only can people find out more about the construction plans and how the road will be built, but there will also be information about road closures and the plans the team has for giving back to the community throughout the project.
“We’ll also have several 4D models available at the events, as well as a display of artefacts discovered by archaeologists over recent months, including Roman pottery and a Neolithic axe head dating back around 5,000 years. We encourage anyone interested in the project to attend.”
The public events follow a major milestone for the scheme earlier this month, when Lincolnshire County Council’s Executive voted unanimously to take the North Hykeham Relief Road project forward at its meeting on Tuesday 6 January.
The decision, subject to government sign-off of the final business case, paves the way for delivery of the final section of Lincoln’s ring road.
Once complete, the scheme will form the last missing link in the ring road, with a new dual carriageway connecting the A46 Pennells Roundabout to the Lincoln Eastern Bypass. The project is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and support future growth in the area.
The plans also include the construction of new roundabouts at South Hykeham Road, Brant Road and Grantham Road, alongside several new bridges, including crossings at Station Road and over the River Witham.
Residents are encouraged to attend one of the information events to find out more about the scheme and how it will be delivered.
