New Survey Firm Sets Sights on Transforming Underground Infrastructure Intelligence

SurveyX (UK) has launched with ambitions to modernise the way underground assets are identified, mapped and inspected, combining traditional surveying expertise with emerging digital technologies to support construction and infrastructure projects across the UK.

The Yorkshire-based start-up is targeting the growing demand for accurate underground asset intelligence, offering a range of specialist services including topographical surveys, ground penetrating radar (GPR), utility mapping, CCTV drainage inspections and advanced underground tunnel surveys.

The company's offering is designed to help clients locate buried utilities, inspect drainage networks, identify defects and better understand complex underground environments before construction begins. By improving the quality of underground data, SurveyX hopes to reduce project risks, minimise costly utility strikes and improve planning accuracy.

Alongside its subsurface capabilities, the business also provides 3D laser scanning and specialist measured building surveys, enabling clients to capture highly accurate digital representations of existing buildings and infrastructure. These surveys can be used for refurbishment, asset management, digital twin creation and future development projects.

SurveyX (UK) is led by project manager Joe Walshaw, who brings more than three decades of experience across the surveying, ground investigation and engineering sectors. The company has already secured its first contracts in Kent and says it has additional opportunities emerging nationwide as it looks to establish a UK-wide presence over the next two years.

Walshaw believes advances in digital technology are creating significant opportunities to improve the speed and accuracy of underground investigations.
