Siemens Mobility Employees Donate More Than 1,300 Hours to Community Projects Across the UK

Volunteers supported environmental initiatives, rail safety education and community organisations at 13 locations as part of a nationwide programme of employee volunteering.

Employees from Siemens Mobility have contributed 1,367 volunteering hours to community projects across the UK this spring, supporting a wide range of initiatives focused on environmental improvement, community wellbeing, inclusion and rail safety.

Working alongside organisations including Community Rail Network, The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) and Samaritans, colleagues took part in practical volunteering activities at 13 locations nationwide, delivering projects designed to leave a lasting benefit for local communities.

Marko Feulner, Chief Financial Officer and Chair of the Board at Siemens Mobility UK & Ireland, said the programme reflected the company's commitment to making a positive impact beyond its day-to-day business.

"There's something special about seeing our people come together to make a difference. This spring, over 1,300 hours were volunteered across 13 locations, but what really stands out is the enthusiasm our people bring to it.

"Supporting our communities isn't something we do on the side – it's part of who we are. I'm proud of every colleague who gave their time."

Supporting Communities Across Britain

One of the projects saw volunteers travel to Langloch Farm in Lanark, where they worked alongside Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI) Scotland, an independent charity that supports people living with health conditions, disabilities and social challenges.

The team helped create new attractions along the site's 'Wonky Way' nature trail, providing play features designed to encourage greater public engagement with the outdoor space.

Niall McShannon, Managing Director of CCI Scotland, praised the enthusiasm shown by the volunteers.

"The Siemens team were a joy and a pleasure to work with at Langloch. They fully embraced the spirit of Wonky Way and worked brilliantly alongside our participants to create exciting new features for the trail. We hope visitors enjoy them just as much as everyone enjoyed building them."

Promoting Inclusion

Alongside its volunteering programme, Siemens Mobility continues to expand its partnership with JAM Card (Just A Minute), an initiative that enables people with hidden disabilities to discreetly indicate they may need additional time, patience or support.

Since January, more than 75% of employees at the company's Glasgow and Dublin locations have completed JAM Card awareness training, helping to build greater understanding of hidden disabilities across the workforce.

Rail Safety and Environmental Improvements

Elsewhere across the country, volunteers joined Network Rail in Bradford to deliver rail safety education to 147 school pupils, while teams working with Community Rail Network and Porterbrook helped enhance the environment at Matlock Bath station.

Other projects included creating a remembrance walk and picnic area with the Ashby Canal Association, carrying out conservation work at Sale Water Park in Manchester with The Conservation Volunteers, and refurbishing a community wellbeing garden in Northampton in partnership with The Hope Centre.

Additional rail safety sessions were also delivered in Manchester, Chippenham and Southampton, with further community events planned throughout the year.

The programme forms part of Siemens Mobility's wider commitment to social value, demonstrating how employee volunteering can support local communities while strengthening partnerships across the transport, environmental and voluntary sectors.
