Marlborough Highways has confirmed the continuation of its long-standing relationship with the London Borough of Newham following the start of a new Highways Works Contract this month.

The new agreement significantly broadens Marlborough’s role within the borough. Alongside the ongoing upkeep and improvement of roads, pavements and associated infrastructure, Marlborough’s teams will also be responsible for delivering most of Newham’s public realm works on the public highway during the first year of the contract.

By working closely with Newham Council and local supply chain partners, Marlborough will promote more sustainable approaches to highways delivery. This includes testing innovative methods to cut carbon emissions and helping to support the Council’s wider environmental and sustainability goals.

The contract also brings opportunities to make a positive impact locally. In collaboration with Newham Council, Marlborough will support job creation for residents, offer inclusive apprenticeship programmes, work with schools and colleges across the borough, and contribute to initiatives designed to encourage future careers in highways and infrastructure.

Commenting on the announcement, Matthew Revell, Managing Director of Marlborough Highways, said:

“We are delighted to further develop our relationship with Newham Council and to build on the strong foundation we have established since 2022.

“Our teams have a deep understanding of the borough, and this contract enables us to play a greater role in looking after and enhancing Newham’s streets and public spaces. Whether carrying out routine maintenance or delivering larger schemes, our priority will be to provide dependable, high-quality services that deliver real benefits for local communities.

“As we move forward, we remain focused on investing in our workforce, operating in a sustainable way, and continuing to meet the high standards the Council and residents expect.”
