Transport for London (TfL) has awarded M Group a major contract to maintain bridges and civil structures across the London Underground network under a deal that could run for up to eight years.

The agreement, which began in April 2026, covers planned and reactive maintenance works across a wide range of structural assets and has an initial term of five years, with an option to extend through to 2034.

Under the contract, M Group will be responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure including brick tunnels, girders, covered walkways and associated cable systems throughout the Underground network, excluding trackside operations.

The programme will involve both preventative maintenance and emergency response works aimed at preserving asset condition, improving reliability and ensuring passenger safety across one of the world’s busiest urban transport systems.

Scheduled activities will include regular structural inspections, four-yearly condition assessments and the repair or replacement of defective infrastructure where required. The company will also provide rapid-response services to address unexpected faults or damage while minimising operational disruption.

Alongside physical maintenance works, M Group will support TfL with inspection planning and wider asset management activities focused on long-term infrastructure performance and governance.

M Group said the contract reflects its experience within the rail and transport sector and strengthens its position in maintaining complex infrastructure assets across the UK.

Mike Evans, managing director for rail and aviation at M Group, described the award as a significant achievement for the business and said the company was proud to support the safety and reliability of London’s transport network, which carries millions of passengers each day.
