Transport for London (TfL) has awarded a major £99.1 million contract to M Group Transport (Rail & Aviation) to maintain vital bridges and civil structures across the capital’s transport network.

The agreement, confirmed earlier this year following a competitive procurement process under the Procurement Act 2023, will run for an initial five-year period from April 2026 to April 2031, with the option to extend the contract through to 2034.

Covering a wide range of essential maintenance activities, the programme is designed to ensure the continued safety and reliability of London’s infrastructure. Work will include applying protective coatings to structures such as steel, concrete and masonry, as well as managing vegetation and carrying out repairs to tunnels, girders and cable-related assets.

Additional responsibilities under the contract include inspection planning, maintenance of cable draw pits, replacement of damaged identification plates, and both routine and reactive repairs. Scheduled interventions will also take place every four years to help maintain long-term asset condition.

TfL highlighted the importance of the contract in safeguarding operations across its network, with the work playing a key role in preventing deterioration and reducing the risk of incidents.

By investing in ongoing maintenance, the deal aims to support the resilience of London’s transport infrastructure—ensuring it remains safe, reliable and fit for the future.
