Safer Highways announce county become the first to complete double header of membership and Stamp it Out rollout.
Safer Highways are delighted to announce the latest local authority /client addition to our membership are Leicestershire CC.
The authority, which self delivers the majority of its highways maintenance is responsible for over 2,500 miles of roads across the county.
However, what makes Leicestershire County Councils decision unique is that as well as become the latest in a long line of local authority members, they have agreed, at the same time to implement the full stamp it out programme across the whole of the supply chain, effectively becoming the first to commit to the programme in its entirety, something which is no small feat, as Kevin Robinson, CEO of Safer Highways, explained,
"To roll out the full Stamp it Out programme across a local authority supply chain is no mean feat, but to commit to each of the elements of the programme is totally commendable.
"To do so as a new member of the organisation is something which should be an example to every other local authority, that where there is a will there is a way."
As well as committing to the full scale app roll out across their full supply chain, embedding conflict avoidance training and mandating the stamp it out signage on every worksite across the county, Leicestershire, in their role as chair of the Midlands Highways Alliance Plus (MHA+) have pledged to drive the message of a zero tolerance approach to abuse across the 30+ local authorities which make up the alliance.
Speaking about the decision to join safer Highways, Chris Green, Head of Service, Highways and Transport Delivery said,
"Leicestershire County Council Highways are pleased to be joining Safer Highways and are looking forward to getting involved in the programmes and initiatives on offer.
For Leicestershire, we are a local employer in our community and operate an in-house workforce so making sure everyone in our team goes home safely at the end of the working day is embedded in everything we do – nothing is so urgent you can’t do it safely."
