Interim boss to oversee all major transport schemes in West Midlands has been named

Sandeep Shingadia will take up the role with Transport for West Midlands later this month


A temporary boss who will oversee all transport across the West Midlands has been named.


Sandeep Shingadia has been appointed Interim Executive Director – Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), while the organisation continues the recruitment process for a permanent appointment.


Mr Shingadia has nearly 28 years of experience in the transport sector and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Board Director at Colmore Business District, Board Director at European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA) and Vice-President at the Network of Metropolitan Areas and Regions (METREX).


He has worked on a number of major transport projects in the West Midlands during the last few years.


These include building the business cases to enable the delivery of a number of Metro extensions including the birmingham-city-centre>Birmingham City Centre Extension, Wolverhampton City Centre Extension and Wednesbury to Brierley Hill.


Mr Shindgadia also lead the development of the HS2 Connectivity Package to enable regional access to HS2 stations at Curzon St and Interchange, which has led to delivery of Sprint, new local rail stations and highway improvements across the region.


And he also lead on the West Midlands City Region Sustainable Transport Fund, which resulted in the largest award nationally of funding to support transport improvements combined with behavioural change measures.
