Following a brief pause over the festive period, BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to resume essential improvement works on the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful.
Temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit will be reinstated from Monday, 12 January to protect both workers and motorists during the next phase of the project.
Initially, the traffic signals will be positioned at Cobbler Bridge to allow maintenance on landslide barriers and drainage systems. The management of traffic will later shift further north to support ongoing slope stabilisation work, barrier maintenance, and debris removal. Due to the nature of the project, these temporary signals will operate around the clock.
The current stage of work is expected to continue into early summer. Throughout the project, access for emergency vehicles and scheduled bus services will be maintained. Authorities expressed gratitude to the local community and road users for their understanding and patience while the works are carried out.
Euan Scott, North West Unit Representative for BEAR Scotland, said: “These improvement works are crucial to maintaining the safety and resilience of the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful. We are pleased with the progress to date, and our teams will continue prioritising safety as the work advances. We are grateful to the community and road users for their continued patience.”
