Go-Ahead London has launched 13 new battery-electric Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV buses on Transport for London route 322, serving passengers between Crystal Palace and Clapham Common.

The vehicles form part of a wider investment in electric transport by the operator, which now has a total of 60 Enviro100EV buses either already in service or due to enter operation in the near future.

The route also marks the first electric bus deployment from Go-Ahead London’s recently opened Sydenham Garage, which began operating in September 2025. The depot has now become the company’s 14th London site supporting battery-electric bus operations.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV is a compact 8.5-metre electric midibus designed specifically for busy urban environments and narrower city streets. Despite its smaller size, the vehicle has been configured to provide capacity for 21 seated passengers alongside standing room for an additional 24 people.

The buses are equipped with the Driventic VEDS electric driveline and powered by a 354kWh battery system. Alexander Dennis says the batteries are capable of supporting intensive daily urban operations on a single charge.

The manufacturer also stated that the battery pack has been designed to last across two consecutive seven-year operating contracts without requiring replacement, supported by a 15-year battery warranty.

Go-Ahead London Managing Director Andy Edwards said the new buses would improve journeys for the large number of passengers using route 322 every day across south London.

He added that the introduction forms part of the company’s broader strategy to expand zero-emission transport across the capital, following the recent milestone of reaching 1,000 zero-emission buses in London.

Edwards also reaffirmed Go-Ahead Group’s longer-term commitment to transitioning its entire fleet to zero-emission vehicles by 2035 in partnership with Transport for London and the Mayor of London.

Alexander Dennis welcomed the continued rollout of the Enviro100EV platform within the capital’s transport network. National Account Manager Mark Ballam described the vehicle as combining compact dimensions with the feel and functionality of a larger bus, while also offering strong environmental and operational performance.

The deployment reflects the continuing shift towards electric public transport in London as operators work to reduce emissions and modernise urban bus services.
