Rubble and debris were scattered across a section of the A1(M) due to an insecure load and poor driving of a van on its way to a nearby registered waste facility.
The incident caused some disruption to fellow drivers, as the BCH Road Policing Unit attended the scene on Friday, along with National Highways.
They worked swiftly to help clear the debris of the busy stretch of motorway by junction 3.
In an attempt to help, one of the driver's friends came to pick him up, only to arrive in an uninsured van.
As a result, both vehicles were seized at the scene, and prosecutions are expected to follow.
