Two individuals were caught on camera holding onto the rear of a London bus in an apparent attempt to travel without paying.
The incident involved a 114 service travelling from Mill Hill to Ruislip on Monday (April 6). Footage shows the pair gripping the back of the moving bus before jumping off as it neared The Highlands stop in Burnt Oak, close to Mollison Way.
Both individuals had their identities concealed—one covering his face with his hand while the other pulled up his hood.
By riding in this way, they avoided paying the £1.75 adult fare for a single journey.
The footage sparked reactions online, with one user commenting that such behaviour contrasts with people who claim to have money while wearing expensive clothing.
Another post from social media account UB1UB2 noted that while the physical strength needed to hold on was notable, the situation could have turned serious if the bus had hit a pothole or stopped suddenly.
Siwan Hayward, Transport for London’s Director of Security, Policing and Enforcement, confirmed the organisation is aware of the incident and is cooperating with the Metropolitan Police.
She urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward, describing the behaviour as both dangerous and irresponsible.
The Metropolitan Police have also been contacted for further details.
