Balfour Beatty Living Places has been awarded a landmark £900 million contract to maintain and upgrade highways across Warwickshire, Coventry, and Solihull.
The agreement comes after the three councils combined their long-term road maintenance plans into a single, coordinated programme.
The deal, secured following a joint procurement process, will run for seven years starting in May 2026, with the possibility of an extension of up to six more years, potentially carrying the programme through to 2039.
Balfour Beatty won the contract over rival bidders M Group Highways and Ringway Infrastructure Services. The company will be responsible for upkeep and improvements across the combined road networks, including streets, bridges, and other related infrastructure.
Council leaders said the partnership approach is expected to deliver significant benefits, including better value for money, improved road conditions, enhanced safety, reduced disruption for drivers, and a lower environmental impact.
The contract is currently in a standstill period until 19 January, with the formal signing anticipated in early February, allowing work to commence on site in May 2026.
