Andy Salkeld has begun a new role as Transport Service Manager – Active Travel Networks at Leicester City Council.

He has been with the council for 28 years, holding a variety of positions, including four years as Active Travel Team Leader and 17 years as Cycling Co-ordinator.

In his work, Salkeld has represented the council across all areas of cycling, from policy and strategy to infrastructure, training, promotion, and community engagement. His contributions have been central to the Cycle City Action Plan and the council’s Annual Bicycle Accounts.

He has also played a key part in major events, such as the Active City Leicester conference held last year.

The event, supported by Active Travel England, was hosted by Leicester City Council and highlighted the city’s commitment to sustainable transport.
