Amey Expands Early Careers Programme with 200+ Opportunities for 2026

Amey is set to double its Early Careers intake, opening more than 200 placements for 2026.
The announcement follows the arrival of over 100 new graduates, apprentices, and placement students this September, underlining the company’s commitment to nurturing diverse talent pipelines in an industry where entry-level routes can be limited.
Michael Burgess, Amey’s Chief People Officer, explained:
“Investing in young talent and creating clear career pathways is vital. This is an exciting moment to join Amey, as the business continues to grow internationally and celebrates a number of new contract wins. Welcoming people from different backgrounds who bring fresh ideas and perspectives always energises our teams. Our Early Careers programmes are not just about training—they’re about building the skills, confidence, and opportunities to make a genuine impact.”
From the outset, participants will contribute to major projects shaping UK infrastructure. Opportunities range from supporting the TransPennine Route upgrade, which is transforming rail travel across Northern England, to working on active travel schemes that reduce carbon emissions and improve urban connectivity.
The programmes offer tailored development across disciplines including engineering, quantity surveying, commercial roles, and corporate functions. Participants benefit from one-to-one mentoring with industry specialists, alongside structured support in achieving professional qualifications through recognised bodies.
Megan Shields, an Assurance Graduate at Amey, reflected on her experience so far:

Working in quality assurance within HSEQ, I’ve already felt how much encouragement there is for early careers professionals to grow and make a difference. Amey’s ambitions are tied to broader inclusion goals, with targets of achieving 40% female and 14% multicultural representation by 2030. The company continues to prioritise gender balance, disability inclusion, and multiethnic participation across all its career pathways.
