A23 Streatham Hill London roadworks works until spring 2027

Long-running roadworks promise to reshape a key route.

The A23 Streatham Hill in south London is undergoing a major redesign, with Transport for London (TfL) leading works to install protected cycle lanes and dedicated bus lanes.

The project is expected to continue until spring 2027.

A spokesperson said: "The new layout will improve bus reliability and make it easier, safer, and more pleasant for people to walk and cycle in the area."

The improvements aim to boost bus reliability.

The restrictions are expected to cause delays, particularly for drivers heading north.

Overnight closures are also planned between Christchurch Road and Sternhold Avenue to allow for changes to traffic management.

Signed diversions will be in place and Streatham Hill Low Traffic Neighbourhood restrictions will be suspended during these closures.

TfL advises all drivers to allow extra time for journeys and to check travel updates before setting out.

Parking along the A23 will be suspended for the duration of the works and some loading bays will be unavailable.

Deliveries are advised to be made outside of peak hours.

Buses will continue to operate along the A23, but journeys are likely to take longer during peak hours, especially on routes 2, 50, 60, 249, 250, 255, 319, 147, 432 and 468.
