National Highways has confirmed that the A57 Mottram Bypass scheme get underway in early 2025.
The scheme, worth a total of £237m, is finally to get underway after a number of delays with principal contractor Balfour Beatty now being given the green light to begin construction of a compound over the summer of 2024.
Following a series of meetings between Conservative candidate for High Peak Robert Largan, National Highways, and the Former Roads Minister Guy Opperman, it has now been confirmed that construction is due to begin within weeks.
Progress on the scheme was held up after a series of legal challenges and the hiatus caused by the General Election, however, the go ahead will allay fears of further delays following a change of government.
It is anticipated that construction will start on site from August, including site preparation with hoardings being put up.
Ground breaking is anticipated to be a few weeks after that.
