Vehicle incursions are no laughing matter and pose significant risk to life, but sometimes an incident happens which brings a distinct smile to the face.

The incident in question, which could have easily been a sketch on "you've been framed" was captured on dashcam by a truck driver, and gives a whole new meaning to the phrase driver confused.

As proceedings unfold in a barrier renewal scheme on the A1 near barnsdale bar, with hilarious commentary from the lorry driver we see a number of motorists moving into the closure through a works access (although we would like to think by mistake) until they find themselves penned in by a central reservation to the right, concrete barrier to the left and a lane blocked with site plant in front, leaving them no way out and with the only option to reverse down to the works exit.

The moral of the story, sometimes a shortcut is far from that.

Thankfully no motorists were harmed in the making of this video - just minor bruising to their egos and redness to the face.
