Windsor & Maidenhead announces £115m highways tender

A £114.8m highways maintenance and capital works contract has been begun procurement by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
Scheduled to commence on 1 April next year, the duration will be 7 years, however, there will also be the option to extend for the same period in incriments of 5 and 2 years.

Comprimising of 632km of roads, 800km of footways, more than 300 bridge structures,The road network is split into 29.2km of motorways and trunk roads, 83.8km of A roads, 68.8km of B roads, 102.6km of C roads as well as 347.2km of unclassified D roads.
The winning contractor will work alongside the council to maintain infrastructure in the face of increasing traffic volumes and larger vehicles.
Bids must be submitted by 1:00pm on 24 June 2025. Technical proposals will carry a weighting of 55 per cent and financial proposals 45 per cent.
It will also be expected to work within the council’s Highway Management and Maintenance Plan, which is based on three industry codes of practice with local variations.
The contract will be awarded via an open procedure.
