Bus passengers across West Northamptonshire are set to benefit from improved journey information following the installation of around 180 real-time electronic information screens at bus stops across the area.

Delivered as part of West Northamptonshire Council's Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), the new displays provide live departure times, service updates and travel alerts, helping passengers make more informed decisions before and during their journeys.

The project has been fully funded by the Department for Transport, with no additional cost to local taxpayers.

The new technology has also been designed with accessibility in mind, featuring integrated audio announcements to support passengers with visual impairments and make public transport easier to use for everyone.

The rollout forms part of a wider investment programme aimed at modernising bus services across the county. Improvements already underway include the introduction of 54 new electric buses to the Stagecoach fleet, alongside upgraded bus shelters, improved lighting, enhanced accessibility measures and clearer road markings on key bus corridors.

Councillor Richard Butler, West Northamptonshire Council's Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said the live information screens would make bus travel more convenient and reliable while encouraging more people to choose public transport.

The latest investment reflects the council's wider ambition to deliver a more modern, accessible and sustainable bus network that gives passengers greater confidence when travelling across West Northamptonshire.
