The Welsh Government has restarted plans for the A483 Llandeilo and Ffairfach bypass, initiating early market engagement for the £100 million scheme aimed at reducing congestion and improving road safety in Carmarthenshire.
The project, highlighted in the National Transport Delivery Plan, will create a new route to divert traffic away from the town centre of Llandeilo and the A483 crossing at Ffairfach.
A preferred alignment has already been selected, and the government is now consulting contractors and consultants to gather feedback ahead of finalising the project’s procurement and delivery approach. The scheme includes the construction of a 100-metre bridge over the River Towy.
An in-person briefing is scheduled for 27 October at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff, with a supplier questionnaire due by 10 November. The full construction contract is expected to be tendered in February 2026, with works anticipated to begin by July 2026 and continue through early 2031.
