HAAS Alert and Wanco, Inc. have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, with new Wanco truck-mounted connected arrow boards now coming equipped as standard with Safety Cloud® by HAAS Alert.

The integration enables automatic, real-time digital safety alerts to be sent directly to drivers through navigation platforms such as Waze when an arrow board is deployed. The alerts are designed to increase driver awareness around roadside operations and improve protection for work zone crews.

By embedding Safety Cloud functionality directly into the equipment, fleets can activate digital alerts automatically without requiring additional hardware or manual input.

Cody Nederostek, ITS Manager at Wanco, said the move represents a major step forward for connected work zone safety.

“This marks a significant step forward in making connected safety accessible and automatic for every Wanco customer,” he said. “By delivering Safety Cloud digital alerts standard with our connected arrow boards, we’re helping to prevent collisions and protect lives in work zones across the country.”

The digital alerts notify approaching drivers when they are nearing an active work zone, providing advance warning through widely used navigation apps. The system operates in real time, triggered when the arrow board is deployed in the field.

Expanded Connected Capabilities

In addition to the standard digital alert functionality, customers will have the option to upgrade to higher tiers of Safety Cloud and Wanco’s Connected Pro service.

These upgrades offer expanded features including:

  • Fleet-wide device visibility

  • User account management

  • Advanced analytics

  • Broader connected safety integrations

The tiered approach allows agencies and contractors to scale connected safety programs based on operational needs.

Cory Hohs, CEO at HAAS Alert, said the collaboration reflects a broader shift toward making connected safety the norm rather than an add-on.

“We’re proud to deepen our partnership with Wanco to make connected safety a default feature,” he said. “Together, we’re helping crews and drivers share the road more safely every day.”

Advancing Work Zone Safety

The integration supports ongoing efforts to reduce work zone collisions, which remain a significant safety concern across the road network. By combining physical traffic control devices with digital alerts, the partnership aims to create a more comprehensive warning system for approaching motorists.

With connected safety technology increasingly embedded directly into traffic management equipment, HAAS Alert and Wanco say they are helping shape the next phase of work zone protection — where roadside devices and in-vehicle navigation systems work in tandem.

The companies describe the milestone as part of a broader commitment to innovation and collaboration in roadside safety, with the ultimate goal of reducing incidents and safeguarding both drivers and crews.
