VolkerSmart Technologies, the EV subsidiary of VolkerHighways, has secured a contract to install 77 electric vehicle charging points across 10 streets in the London Borough of Bexley.

This project builds on the company’s long-standing collaboration with Trojan Energy, which has already delivered over 1,230 charging points in Barnet.

The latest generation of charge point features a flat and flush design, incorporating a new connection process, smaller jig, updated joints, and a lighter unit engineered with improved water ingress protection in mind. Smaller cabinets will also be utilised, offering a more discreet and environmentally sensitive solution.

Delivery will be carried out by VolkerHighways’ expert teams, including its ICP team for connections and VolkerTraffic Management for design plans and delivery. Work began in mid-June and is expected to complete by September.

David Easton, Operations Director for VolkerSmart Technologies, said:

“This latest contract reflects the strength of our ongoing partnership with Trojan Energy and our shared expertise in delivering EV charging solutions across complex urban environments. As the adoption of electric vehicles continues to grow, it’s crucial that accessible charging is made available to everyone, especially those without access to off-street parking.”

Sean Robertson, Head of Charge Point Installations for Trojan Energy, said:

“We are thrilled to partner with VolkerSmart Technologies once again to deliver our charging infrastructure in Bexley. Together, we have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, reliable charging solutions, and their expertise and commitment on the ground ensure our charge points are installed efficiently and to the highest standard.

We’re committed to working closely with Bexley Council to make EV charging accessible and affordable for everyone in the borough.”
