Transport Scotland has alerted suppliers that it will be establishing a technical services framework for asset management on the trunk road network.
The prior information notice estimates the value of the framework at £13.4M over four years, but all values, dates and timescales are purely indicative at this stage, according to Transport Scotland.
The Scottish transport operator says the framework “covers services crucial to allowing Transport Scotland to meet statutory, legal and contractual obligations and is aimed at driving continuous improvement in how [it] manage and analyse Scottish Trunk Road asset data”.
The framework will be divided into four lots: Asset Management Improvement Programme, Asset Management Performance System (AMPS) development and maintenance, Geotechnical Certification Services and Asset Management Technical Advice.
The AMPS to be developed and maintained under lot 2 is used to record and monitor the repair of safety critical defects. Transport Scotland says the system “is used to store and analyse accident data and skidding resistance data - loss of service would result in a breach of Scottish Ministers’ statutory responsibilities”.
