Viral food sensation Spudman is teaming up with London Northwestern Railway (LNR) to give away 730 free jacket potatoes in celebration of the operator’s new Class 730 trains.

The month-long collaboration marks the introduction of the new fleet on the Trent Valley Line, strengthening connections between London and parts of Cheshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire.

Fans will have three opportunities to grab a free loaded spud, with events taking place across three consecutive Saturdays:

  • 21 February – Milton Keynes, Outdoor Market (MK9 3NT)

  • 28 February – Crewe, Town Square (CW1 2HR)

  • 7 March – Tamworth, St Editha’s Square (B79 7DA)

Ben Newman, better known online as Spudman, shot to fame on TikTok after posting videos of long queues forming at his Tamworth food van, where customers flock for his generously loaded jacket potatoes.

Speaking about the partnership, Newman said:“I feel very lucky to have followers who are willing to travel such long distances to visit me, so working with a train operator which is introducing brand-new trains and making it even easier for them as a result makes perfect sense. I can’t wait to visit Milton Keynes, Crewe and then back to where it all started in Tamworth!”

Those unable to secure one of the free potatoes will still be able to sample a limited-edition LNR-green jacket potato topped with pesto chicken. A share of the proceeds from the special will be donated to charity.

David Watkin, Commercial Director at London Northwestern Railway, said the partnership was a natural choice.“Tamworth station sits at the heart of the Trent Valley Line, so collaborating with the town’s most famous internet personality felt like the perfect way to showcase our new trains. We’re delighted to bring Spudman to Milton Keynes and Crewe for the first time, giving even more people the chance to try one of his legendary creations.”

The promotion blends rail innovation with viral food culture, as LNR looks to generate excitement around its new Class 730 fleet while drawing communities together along the route.
