Transport for London (TfL) is bringing back its popular Cycle Sundays initiative this July, offering unlimited free 60-minute Santander Cycles rides every Sunday to encourage more people to explore the capital by bike.
Running from 5 to 26 July, the scheme provides free Day Passes—normally priced at £3.50—allowing riders to make unlimited hour-long journeys over a 24-hour period. The offer is open to both Londoners and visitors, with dedicated promotional codes released for each Sunday.
The campaign is designed to encourage people who are new to cycling to give it a try, with more than 50 beginner-friendly and leisure routes available across London. Routes cover destinations including Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Battersea Power Station, while TfL has also partnered with Strava and komootto make route planning and ride tracking easier.
Registered Santander Cycles members can also take advantage of the offer on the scheme's growing fleet of electric bikes.
The initiative forms part of TfL's wider ambition to promote healthier and more sustainable travel. London's strategic Cycleways network has now expanded to more than 441 kilometres, almost five times larger than it was in 2016, with a further £94.8 million being invested in cycling infrastructure across London's boroughs during 2026/27.
TfL says a new operating contract for the Santander Cycles scheme, due to begin later this year, will introduce a refreshed app, upgraded docking stations, new hire options and an expanded fleet of e-bikes.
Will Norman, London's Walking and Cycling Commissioner, said the return of Cycle Sundays would help even more people discover the benefits of cycling while supporting the Mayor's ambition to create a safer, healthier and greener capital.
